Leather bands for Fitbit

Fitbit uses its own clip on most models, so a band has to be made for the specific tracker rather than adapted. What is on this page is cut for the models it lists and nothing else.

The band swaps in the same way the original does, with the same release catch. No tools.

Check the tracker name

Fitbit clips are not shared across the range, so the band has to say your tracker by name. The model is printed on the back of the device or shown in the Fitbit app under the device settings.

Swapping it

Press the catch on the back of the tracker and slide the old band out, then push the new one in until it clicks. The same catch, the same motion as the band it came with.

Pull on it once before wearing it to make sure both ends have seated.

A tracker you can wear to dinner

The usual reason for buying one of these is that the rubber band looks like exercise equipment and you wanted to keep counting steps without advertising it. Full-grain leather does that, and it softens into the shape of your wrist after a fortnight.

Keep the original band for workouts and swimming.

Materials and care

Full-grain cowhide, stitched edges, steel buckle. Keep it away from water and it will darken rather than stiffen.

Sleep tracking works the same on leather as on rubber. The sensor reads through contact with skin, which the band does not change.

Fitbit fittings are model specific

Unlike most watches, Fitbit does not use a standard spring bar. Each model has its own connector shaped to the case, so bands do not transfer between them.

  • Check the model name on the back of the tracker, or in the Fitbit app under your device.
  • Charging contacts differ between models as well, which is the other reason the fittings are not interchangeable.
  • Our bands use the original style clip so the tracker sits flush, with no gap at the lug.

A leather band on a fitness tracker is a slightly different proposition from a sport strap. It is made for the hours you are not training. Most people who buy one keep the rubber band for the gym and switch back afterwards.

One more thing. If the tracker is worn overnight for sleep tracking, leather sits more comfortably against skin than silicone, which traps warmth. Loosen it by a hole before bed so the sensor still reads without the strap pressing into your wrist.
