iPhone 11 Series

These three phones have rounded rails and a square camera block that sticks out further than anything before it. A case that does not raise a lip around that block leaves the lenses resting on the table every time you put the phone down, so every case here is cut with a rim that stands slightly proud of the glass.

The 11 Pro and the 11 Pro Max take different shells despite looking almost identical in photographs. Set the model above the grid first.

The model name is on the first line of Settings, General, About. It is quicker than comparing photographs, and the 11 Pro and Pro Max look identical in one.

The 11 came out in 2019 and plenty are still in daily use, which is why this page exists at all. Snap-on cases, folio wallets and the detachable Ravenna are all here, though not every design is available in every colour any more.

Capri takes two or three cards against the back. Florence and the other folios take four or five plus folded notes, and they all have an RFID blocking layer behind the slots.

On a phone this age, a folio has one more argument going for it. The wallet half is not cut to a model, so it keeps working when the phone finally gets replaced.

A six year old phone in a stretched silicone case looks six years old. The same phone in full-grain leather reads as something kept rather than something outdated, and a folio hides the back entirely if the finish underneath has taken a beating.

The leather is cowhide with the grain left on, lined in suede so nothing hard touches the screen. It darkens with use and keeps going long after the battery needs replacing.

The 11 range has no magnets inside, so magnetic charging is not part of the picture here. Wireless charging on a standard Qi pad still works through the leather.

• The 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max are three separate sizes, and the Pro is the smallest of them.
• The camera square on the Pro models is larger than on the standard 11, so the cutouts differ.
• A car mount needs a clamp rather than a magnet, unless you add a metal plate yourself.

Leather outlives phones. If this one is going to be passed on to someone in the family when you upgrade, the case can go with it, and it will look better then than it does new.
