X, XR, XS and XS Max
Four bodies sit under this heading and they are easy to mix up. The X and the XS are the same size, the XR is wider than both, and the XS Max is wider still. A case for one will not hold another, so start with the model row above the grid.
This was the first generation without a home button, which is why the folio cases here have a clean front panel with no cutout in it.
Which of the four you have
- iPhone X and XS: the same body, two lenses stacked vertically
- iPhone XR: wider than both, single lens
- iPhone XS Max: the largest of the four, two lenses
An X case fits an XS and nothing else fits either. If the phone was bought second hand and you are not sure what it is, the model number is in Settings, General, About.

Not every design is cut for all four bodies. The grid only shows you what exists for the size you selected.
Handing the phone down
A lot of these phones are second phones now, passed to a parent or kept in a drawer as a spare. A folio is the useful choice there: it covers the screen, which is the part that cracks when a phone lives loose in a bag, and it does not need a screen protector to do it.
Everything on this page is full-grain cowhide lined with suede, and any of it can be engraved for 18.90 dollars if the phone is going to someone as a gift.
Stock on a seven year old phone
Colours on this page are what remain rather than what is being cut. Antique Brown and Rustic Black hold out longest across the designs, and the lighter shades disappear first.
The leather itself is the same full-grain cowhide used on the current models, with the same suede lining. Nothing here is old stock of a lesser material.
The X, XS and XR together
These phones arrived close together and are still mistaken for each other, so it is worth being precise.
- The iPhone X and the XS share a body and take the same case.
- The XS Max is larger and takes its own.
- The XR is a different size again, with one rear camera rather than two.
Check the model under Settings, then General, then About if you are not certain. Nothing wastes more time than a case that is one size out.
These are among the oldest iPhones we still cut for. Stock runs on what is left of each colour rather than on a production schedule, so if the shade you want is showing, it is worth ordering rather than waiting.
