Galaxy S21 & Earlier

The Galaxy S21 and every S generation before it are gathered here, back to the S8. Splitting them across separate pages made sense when each was current. It does not now, when most people arrive knowing only that their Galaxy is a few years old.

Samsung ran three or four sizes in most of these generations, and they are not interchangeable.

• Standard, Plus and Ultra are three separate bodies in the same year.
• The FE models are their own size again, close to the standard but not the same.
• The S10e is smaller than the S10, and the S10 5G is larger than both.

Settings, then About phone gives the model name. It is quicker than measuring and it settles the Plus and Ultra question for good.

The S8, S9, S10 and the Plus and Ultra models that followed all have screens that curve over the long edges. A flat folio flap pressing on that curve is the usual reason people give up on wallet cases for a Galaxy.

Our folios are cut wider across the flap so it closes past the curve instead of onto it, and the magnet sits in the outer panel rather than over the screen. It is a small difference in the pattern and it is the one that decides whether the cover is usable.

More than screen size, it is the camera block that stops Galaxy cases carrying over between generations.

• S8 and S9: a single lens set almost flush, with the fingerprint reader beside it.
• S10: a horizontal strip, wider on the Plus.
• S20: a raised rectangular block that lifts the phone off a table.
• S21: the housing wraps into the side frame, which is why nothing from the S20 fits it.

Cases for these phones are cut in short runs rather than held in bulk, so colours come and go without much warning. What is on the page is what we have.

If the shade you want shows as sold out, it is worth asking before assuming it has gone for good. Some come back when a suitable hide turns up, and we can usually tell you whether yours is one of them or whether it has been retired.

Does wireless charging work through the case? Yes on the snap-on shells, and on the folios once the cover is folded back.

Will a magnetic car mount hold it? Not on its own. These phones have no magnets, so you need a clamp mount or a metal plate.

Where are the Note and the folding phones? They have their own pages, because a pen slot and a hinge change the pattern completely.
