Galaxy S22 Series

The S22 Ultra was the first S series phone with the S Pen built into the body, which also made it the squarest phone Samsung had shipped in years. Its case is nothing like the one for the S22 or the S22 Plus, so pick the model above the grid first.

The standard S22 is small by current standards. If you kept it because of that, a slim snap-on keeps it that way better than a folio does.

The Ultra shares nothing with the other two. Check the model name under Settings, About phone if you are buying for someone else.

Capri, Lucca and Florence are cut for these three sizes. Colour ranges have thinned since launch, so the swatches under each card are the accurate list rather than a sample of it.

Everything is full-grain cowhide, lined in suede, stitched along the full edge. Engraving is available on any of them for 18.90 dollars.

Capri holds two or three cards, Florence four or five, both with an RFID blocking layer behind the slots. Wireless charging works through the leather.

The S Pen slot on the S22 Ultra stays open on every case here. The pen slides in and out with the case on.

An S22 that still holds a charge is worth keeping, and a case is the cheapest part of keeping it. Leather has the advantage of not looking dated: a phone in a worn-in full-grain shell reads as a choice, while the same phone in a yellowed plastic case reads as an old handset.

The leather also outlives the phone. A folio wallet carries over to whatever comes next.

Does the S22 Ultra case fit the S23 Ultra? No, and the two look close enough that it is a common mistake.

Will the pen still come out with the case on? Yes. The silo is left open on every design here.

Is it still worth buying leather for a phone this age? If you plan to keep the phone another year, yes. If you are upgrading next month, a folio carries over and a snap-on does not.

Does it work with a wireless charger? Yes, through the leather.
