iPad Pro Cases
Cases for the 11 inch and 12.9 inch iPad Pro
The Pro is the iPad people carry to work, which is also the one most likely to be in a bag with a laptop charger and a set of keys. A leather folio is the layer between them.
Both sizes are on this page. The 12.9 inch models changed thickness between generations, so check the year as well as the size.
Which iPad Pro you have
The 11 inch and the 12.9 inch are the two sizes, but the thickness changed between generations and so did the camera housing. The model name under Settings, General, About is the reliable way to check, and the model number is also etched on the back in small type.
Standing it up
The folio cover folds into a stand at two angles: near upright for video, shallower for typing. Leather holds those positions better than the magnetic covers do, because the fold stiffens as the material settles rather than going slack.
Full-grain cowhide outside. It picks up a patina in the same places every time, along the spine and the front corner your thumb opens it with.
Cards inside the cover
The folios hold a card or two inside the front cover. It is not a wallet, and it is not meant to be. It holds the access card for the building or a business card, which is the use people actually find for it.
Weight and bulk
A leather folio on a 12.9 inch Pro adds noticeable weight. That is the honest trade: better protection, a stand, and a tablet that is heavier to hold in one hand for a long reading session.
On the 11 inch the difference is small enough that most people stop noticing within a week.
Fitting an iPad Pro folio
The iPad Pro has changed size more than once, so the generation matters more here than with any other device we cover.
- The 11 inch and 13 inch models take different folios. There is no shared size between them.
- Recent Pro models hold the Apple Pencil on the long edge and charge it there, so our folios leave that strip clear.
- The camera module on the Pro is larger than on the Air. A folio cut for an Air will not close flat on a Pro.
If you are not sure which generation you own, open Settings, then General, then About. The model name is listed there, and reading it is quicker than measuring the tablet.
